Behind the Wind

Echoes of what was, whisper behind the gale.

Your embrace, now absent, haunts me — those moments my tears fell,

Eyes locked into yours,

As my head lay cradled on your knee,

Eeach glance a piercing shard.

I gaze upon blank walls, ceilings, trees,

Searching for the ghost of your stare.

Memories of your hands, gentle through my hair,

Now whispers of a past breeze.

Tears have ceased, laughter faded,

He remains – a shell, emptied of joy, devoid of thought,

Lingering in a limbo, waiting,

Waiting only for you.

No breath stirs excitement,

No laughter breaks the silence –

Only a barren, bleak crust remains,

A landscape scorched and dark.

This void, carried on the wind’s back,

Echoes of what was, whisper behind the gale.
